PerduraboModeratorIt is generally recognized that CST and BCST practitioners’ listening and resonance skills are easily translated into working with clients online. Since COVID-19 began the community has become quite divided about this topic. Some people state that CST is a ‘touch therapy’ and that online work should not use the word ‘craniosacral’. Some are concerned because they feel the inclusion of ‘online’ work under the craniosacral umbrella will undermine the effort to ‘legitimize’ craniosacral therapy and allow it to be included in medical insurance policies. Also, in general to date, practitioners insurance policies do not cover sessions that are not done in-person.
What do you think? Have you done any online sessions yourself? Do you think it needs a different name? What would you suggest?

Renee HellaModeratorIt feels like it might be good to de-couple this question so that we can have a more clear discussion about it, perhaps something like:
a) Is it possible to do online craniosacral sessions?
b) Should we call online craniosacral sessions something else because of the concern certain members of the community have around being seen as a less ‘legitimate’ modality by mainstream health?

John DaltonParticipantI work with people remotely.
I rely on all the skill and experience I have gained over the years as a craniosacral therapist and teacher when I am working remotely.
I don’t call what I do craniosacral therapy.Over the years I have found hard enough to get the idea of how craniosacral works across. To include that it could be done remotely feels like too much of a stretch for people and would take away from other practitioners who are working in person.
